Upon a Princess is a ballet-based class where children learn the basic
steps and positions of classical ballet, while developing their imaginations
through creative play and the magical world of classic fairy tales.
Every week your child will transform herself into a different princess. Costumes form an integral part of their experience and will be provided for each of the different princesses they will become: Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, The Little Mermaid, and more. Many of these classic fairy tales have been adapted into full-length ballets, which grace the repertoire of major ballet companies around the world. By rediscovering these classic tales your child will be exposed to the breath taking sound of classical music and will learn how pure movement can be used to bring stories to life.
Come and join the fun and have your child experience the beauty of dance, while developing musicality, rhythm, flexibility and balance. While traditional ballet classes concentrate primarily upon the dance technique, Once Upon a Princess allows your child to learn a real foundation for classical ballet training, while engaging their love of role-playing and story telling. This class is unique in York region and the GTA in that it is a story theme class designed specifically for 3-6 year olds, acknowledging their love of movement and their desire to move through class material fluidly. Such a class structure allows each child more freedom to explore the challenges that the classical ballet technique presents.
Mrs. Greyeyes has enjoyed over twenty years of teaching and professional dance experience. Her lengthy career as a ballerina, with prominent companies in Canada and the United States, allows her to introduce high-standards to your child’s education and instill the importance of a clean foundation for further dance training.
Once Upon a Princess offers your child a chance to have fun, spark their imaginations, and learn to dance in the unique context of princesses and the timeless stories that all young girls love.
